Hey guys! Today we’re going to talk about the book War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Now, it’s an old book, no doubt, but it’s a great one and so I thought it does deserve a review.

War Horse follows the heartwarming story of Joey, a strong, fabulous horse, from his childhood ,where he parts from his mother, to the end where… Oh! I’m not going to give you any spoilers! After Joey is sold to a farmer he is cared for by the farmer’s son and loves living there. But one day when the father really needs money he sells Joey to the military to fight the war during World War II.

The tale of friendship and meeting new people guides this story to it’s sad but wholesome ending. It really makes the reader think about the cruel real world but also the value of faith and friendship. A story which everyone needs to read, I tell you!

The author of the book, Michael Morpurgo, has written countless amazing books which really make you think about how the world is a beautiful place, not because of its nature or anything but because of the people that live in it. I have read another book by him called Kensuke’s Kingdom (review coming in soon!) and I found it as good as this one.

All in all, I love this book not only because of the story but also because of the feeling that it evoked in me. It reminded me of the time when I watched the movie “The Boy in Striped Pyjamas”. Although the story and plot are not the same, it taught me about a) The wars in world history and b) cruelty against people and animals that exists even today (even though it may be in different forms).

I give this book an honest 9 out of 10 for it’s awesome plot and also because the author takes a true event (WW II) and then weaves a story along those lines which is super hard to do but he still managed to do it fabulously.

See You Next Time! =)
